About Quantum Finance Australia
Quantum Finance Australia is an independent mortgage and finance brokerage in West Leederville. Independent means no franchise, and no lender holding a share of the business.
Gavin Harrigan started broking in 2005 and leads the practice. Since then it has settled over $1 billion across home lending, refinancing, construction, development and commercial finance. Three people work here, all of them named on this site.
What that structure buys you is simple enough. Your file goes to whichever of 40+ lenders suits it, the person who takes your first call is the person who writes the loan, and no franchise quota is pointing you at a particular bank.

Why independent matters
What independent actually meansEvery lender has a product it wants to sell and a credit policy that decides who is allowed to have it. A bank branch can only ever give you that one bank’s answer to your question. We compare 40+ lenders, bank and non-bank, and that comparison is the actual work.
A franchised broker sits inside somebody else’s business. There are preferred lenders, volume agreements and a brand upstairs to keep happy. None of that applies here, which is why the recommendation you get is about your file and nothing else.
It also means we are free to tell you no. If a refinance will not save you money once the break costs, the new application fees and the reset loan term are counted, we will show you the arithmetic and suggest you stay put. That is a worse month for us and a better year for you.
- No franchise agreement, and no lender owns a share of the business
- 40+ lenders on the panel, bank and non-bank
- The broker you meet is the broker who writes and reviews your loan
- Advice you can act on, including the advice to leave things where they are

What our clients say
In their words, not oursReviews left by people we have settled loans for, pulled straight from the platform they were written on.

Our track record
21+ years, and over $1 billion settledBroking since 2005 covers a fair bit of weather. A global credit crisis, a mining boom and the bust behind it, a pandemic, and then the sharpest run of rate rises in a generation. A file that was routine in 2015 is not routine now.
Assessment has become far more forensic in that time. Self-employed income, casual hours, study debt, a credit card you stopped using but never closed: each of them moves the number a lender will lend you. Knowing which lender treats which of them kindly is most of what twenty-one years buys you.
Over $1 billion has settled through the practice. The figure matters less than what sits behind it, which is a long line of files other brokers had already put in the too-hard basket.
Our accreditation and licensing
Who we answer toIndependent does not mean unaccountable. It means the accountability runs to a regulator and to you, rather than to a head office with a quarterly target.
Australian Credit Licence 389083
Held by the business in its own right, not borrowed from an aggregator or a franchisor. It carries responsible lending obligations, and those obligations are owed to you.
MoneyQuest
The aggregator behind the lender panel. An aggregator handles lender accreditation and settlement infrastructure. It does not pick the loan and it has no say in the recommendation.
Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA)
The industry association. Membership brings a code of practice, continuing education requirements, and an external path for a complaint if one is ever needed.
What those memberships buy you
MoneyQuest is the aggregator behind the practice, and membership is what puts 40+ lenders within reach in the first place. An aggregator holds the lender accreditations and the settlement plumbing; it does not choose your loan. The Hall of Fame listing in the awards below was awarded by PLAN Australia, our previous aggregator, recorded on the badge as “Valued partner, 15 years”.
The Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) is the national body for the profession. It tracks legislation and speaks for brokers to government departments, parliament and the regulators. Members keep up regular industry programmes as the rules change, which is how a broker stays current rather than only experienced.
Australian Credit Licence 389083 is the strongest of the three, because it is law rather than membership. It obliges us to ask about your circumstances, verify what you tell us, and only recommend a loan that is not unsuitable for you. It also requires membership of a free external dispute resolution scheme, so a complaint has somewhere to go that is not us.
The standards we work to
Honesty
Advertising, what we say on the phone and what we put in writing all have to line up. How we are paid is disclosed with it.
Compliance
Credit law moves. Staying current with it is a condition of membership, not something a broker gets to opt out of.
Confidentiality
Your financials, and what a lender is told about you, are both handled carefully. Neither travels further than the file needs.
Loyalty
Conflicts of interest are identified and removed. Where one cannot be removed, you are told about it before you decide.

How we work with you
How the conversation actually goesFive steps, and the first one costs you a quarter of an hour. Every step below is subject to lender approval and to your circumstances.
A fifteen minute call
We ask what you are trying to do and roughly where you stand. No documents for this part. You get a straight answer on whether it is worth going further, and sometimes that answer is not yet.
Your position, properly worked out
Borrowing capacity is calculated across several lenders rather than one. Two lenders looking at the very same income can land a long way apart, because they treat overtime, bonuses and existing debts differently.
A shortlist with the reasoning attached
You get the options, the numbers and why the recommendation looks the way it does. If a sharper rate sits behind a credit policy that will not accept your income, we will say so rather than let you find out later.
The application, and the chasing
We prepare the file so it goes in once and goes in properly. Then we deal with the lender, the valuer and the settlement agent. You get told where things are up to without having to ask.
A review that actually happens
Loans drift. Rates move, fixed terms roll off and circumstances change, so we come back to your loan rather than waiting for you to notice. That is the part a call centre never does.

Our West Leederville office
The office in West LeedervilleThe office is at 60/110 Cambridge St, West Leederville WA 6007, a few minutes west of the Perth CBD. It is an easy run in from the western and northern suburbs, and close enough to the city to fit around a work day.
Plenty of clients never come in, and that is completely fine. Most files run on phone, email and video, and the expat work runs entirely across time zones. The office is there for the people who would rather sit down with someone and go through it in person.
If that is you, ring 1300 813 113 or email gavin@quantumfinance.com.au and we will find a time. Tell us roughly what you are looking at and we will have something useful ready before you arrive.
